"White ColorMap" Sticker Overlay for Modal Craft Synth 2.0 (Skin)

"White ColorMap" Sticker Overlay for Modal Craft Synth 2.0 (Skin)

Product Description:

This product is a custom designed and manufactured adhesive-backed overlay kit / skin for the Modal Craft Synth 2.0 synthesizer.  There are four pieces to this kit:

  • Top panel overlay with labels for controls and functions & MIDI CC values
  • Keyboard area overlay with key markings, and parameter values
  • Back-side sticker with cheat-sheet notes
  • Small side-sticker for power setting (Battery, Off, USB)

Note:  This product uses a very strong permanent adhesive backing.  If you would like to remove the overlay after it has been applied, see removal instructions below.

This design uses large fonts and high contrast graphics for maximum readability in low-light situations.  Color-coding is used to indicate control groups; lavender for oscillator controls, red for filter, green for envelopes, orange for the sequencer, etc.  MIDI CC values are also shown for many synthesizer parameters.

The artwork is printed using a high-quality commercial printing process to provide the best resolution and color saturation. A glossy topcoat lamination is then applied in order to improve contrast and provide physical protection for the printed image.  Holes have been cut for all of the front panel buttons, dials, and LEDs. When properly installed the overlay will not interfere with any of the synthesizer’s functions (see installation instructions below for details).

Installation And Removal:

Watch the installation video here:   https://youtu.be/1BOPY24nqE8

If your synthesizer is very dirty, you may want to clean it with a soft cloth or an isopropyl alcohol wipe before installing the overlay. You may also want to wash your hands with soap and water before installing the overlay to prevent getting oils or debris on the adhesive.

To install the overlay, first remove all front panel knobs from your synthesizer.  Next, use an X-acto knife to carefully remove all 8 of the small cutout circles from the keyboard area of the overlay.  See the installation video for a demonstration of this.  Then, simply peel off the overlay’s backing, and place the overlay pieces onto your synthesizer.  Finally, re-install the front panel knobs.  Note that the filter knob is larger than the rest.

This overlay skin has a very strong permanent adhesive backing.  Removal of this overlay will destroy the overlay itself, and will likely leave adhesive residue on the surface of your synthesizer.  This adhesive residue may be removed using an adhesive remover such as Gamsol.  To remove the overlay, start by using your fingernail or an X-axto knife to pry up one corner of the overlay.  As you peel the overlay away from your synthesizer, it may be helpful to use an X-acto knife to cut away portions of the overlay while you go.  Once the overlay is removed, use a disposable rag to spread a small amount of Gamsol or similar adhesive remover across the adhesive residue.  Never pour adhesive remover or any other chemical over your synthesizer since it may damage the electronics.  Let the adhesive remover sit for about a minute.  This should loosen the adhesive enough to be rubbed off with the rag.  Do not use a heat gun to loosen the adhesive as this could easily melt or warp the synthesizer’s housing.
